Course Description:
This 20 week (5 month) Visual Merchandising course has been designed for those wishing to begin a career in the visual merchandising or those who hold positions as visual merchandisers in the retail industry.
The role of the Visual Merchandiser may involve:
- ·working as a member of a national, state or store-based team
-· designing and installing visual merchandising displays in the retail industry, and/ or
-· self employment as a visual merchandiser.
Certification
On completion of the course, you will recieve a certificate from Studio Atomium which will be certified by JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
Aims & Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will have an understanding of the Visual Merchandising industry including:
-· principles & elements of display,
-· development & design of language for the purpose of product presentation,
-· design & construction of props, and
-· working to an industry brief
Course Structure:
The 20 week course has been divided into 5 parts, each part is 4 week long.
I Understanding VM & the Great Indian Retail Industry
II Display Basics
III Store Planning & Fixtures
IV Merchandise Presentation & Window Displays
V Final Stage: In store promotions and technologies in VM
Eligibility:
Applicants need to complete 10+2 in any stream to get admission in Visual Merchandising course.
A Bachelor's degree in Visual or Fashion Merchandising can be an asset to build a solid platform for this career. An applicant should have flair towards intermingling creativity and technology. Visual Merchandisers may have a background in design or retail. A working knowledge of consumer psychology gives a better insight into the work. Retailing experience can also help in understanding how the retailing business operates. Knowledge of fashion and art/design industry trends and forecasts can help one to be a good Visual Merchandiser.
Prospects:
The concept of Visual Merchandising is in a state of infancy in India, but its future outlook is excellent. In the coming years, the jobs for Visual Merchandisers are expected to increase with zooming size. With the increase in the number of shopping malls, five star hotels, boutiques and retail outlets, the demand for Visual Merchandisers is certainly going to take a big leap. Big companies like Shopper's Stop, Westside, Lifestyle, Ebony, Titan, Pantaloon, Wills Sports, Mango, etc., provide ample job opportunities.
Theme-based merchandise displays are also in great demand for organising marketing led retail events like Christmas, Diwali, Valentine's Day, etc. The retailers understand the positive impact of not just having good display windows but also merchandise presentation and plano graming. These VM lead tools dont just invite grand customer traffic in-stores but also convert the traffic into sales. Skilled Visual Merchandisers are more sought after now-a-days.
Course Procedure:
Once we receive your application form, we will mail you a username and password. You can then login (from the panel on the left on this page) and download the tutorials from the links.
The 20 weeks course has been divided into 5 parts, each part is 4 weeks long. Each part has an assignment and/or project. You are expected to give in the project/ assignments (by e-mail or courier, as per your convenience) by the end of each part. Once we receive your assignments, only then will you be able to access the next part of your course.
Each assignment will be marked and the aggregate course grades will be mentioned on your completion certificate which you will recieve on successful completion of the course.
You can not move on to the next part without completing the previous part’s assignments.
If there are delays in your assignments, you might not be able to complete the course in 20 weeks. This course is a 20 week (5 months) course. If due to any delays in completion of assignments, the course can be completed in a maximum of 6 months time (from the date of enrolement.)

Course Fees:
The students have two options to choose from. The options are as under:
OPTION I:
A One time payment of Rs.20,000/- plus Rs.500/- registration charges!
That is, Rs.20,500/- in total
OPTION II: Five Instalments:
First instalment of Rs.5000/- plus Rs.500/- registration (total Rs.5,500/-)
Then four equal instalments of Rs
.5000/- each.
Each instalment shall be due before starting each part.
That is, Rs.25,500/- in total to be paid over the period of the course duration.
The fees can be paid by cheque (payable at face value) or demand draft in favour of Studio Atomium payable at New Delhi, India.
